A Tale of Two Mornings
Yesterday, I cast netted shrimp off of the dock. I took a rod with a popping cork along with all the other speck stuff. I ran in the dark to a location we have caught big trout in the past. Every single shrimp got eaten, every lure cast got hit (except topwater, no topwater bites). I caught at least 100 trout in the 13-14 inch range. The largest was maybe 15 inches. I did see a huge trout (it looked huge compared to what I was catching) just follow my lure and turn away. It was like I was muskie fishing.
Today, I was going to do it again, but I got a text from Stan Simmerman asking if I wanted to go in his boat…yep. I only caught 5 trout this morning but the first 2 were big girls. Sometimes, less is more. Stan did catch 2 trout, but he would not let me get a photo. I thought it would make a good study of size differential, but he wasn’t buying it.
