Specks

David Brabrand took me trout fishing the past two mornings. Yesterday, we did not catch a lot of trout but we caught a couple of really thick fish at 24 and 29.5 inches long. The 29.5 was David’s largest ever. Earlier, he had broken his net trying to land one of my fish. I ended just swinging the 18 incher into the boat. So, with David’s fish, I only had the net loop to work with. On my knees, leaning out as far as I can, David’s fish come up 5 feet from the boat. “Get him Ken!” “Do you want me to swim after it?” “Yes”. Anyway, we got it and he won’t stop talking about it. It was a nice fish.

Today, he did not take me back to the big-fish spot. Turned left, instead of right. We caught more fish today but no big trout. My first cast, I hooked up with a big trout but pulled it off. Sorry to lose that one. Picking away at smaller trout and the water starts erupting the next point over. Let’s go over there. Slot-sized rockfish were in a frenzy. That was a lot of fun on the trout tackle. I did catch a trout that already had a tag in it.

Where are we going tomorrow Unkie Davie?
