Before Work

Got up in the dark and looked outside. It was raining…back to bed…but the topwater bite is supposed to be better in the rain and it wasn’t raining that hard. Put the raingear on and walked to the boat. Pulled up an un-baited minnow pot that had one minnow in it. Took the minnow and ran to the flats. Put the minnow under a cork drifting behind the boat. It got eaten by a shark. Topwater bites were bluefish, at least the ones I held onto were. When it got lighter, I cast to some water that had some color. It was a big school of drum. My bait was knocked out of the water 4 times before finally being crushed and the fish went screaming across the flats. The thing thought it was a bonefish. These pups fight hard on light tackle. I was awake now. By the time I finally encouraged it to come to the boat, it was time to go in and get ready for work. This work thing…
