Fishing Report 7.19.10

Flounder cooperated for some anglers fishing in the Buoy 42 and Cell areas this week.

Small spadefish are available at the Cell and at Wolftrap Light.

The croaker bite is moving into the bay. #2 spot are being caught off Gwynn Island, Butlers Hole and the Spike.

Schools of small tailor blues are everywhere in open waters and can be trolled up at 3-5 knots.

Spanish Mackerel have arrived and can be caught trolling Clark spoons or small Drone spoons at 6-8 Kts vicinity of Windmill Point bar south to Wolftrap Light.

Cobia continue to be caught around New Point Light and on York Spit and we weighed one caught near Buoy 42 on Friday.

Shallow water fishermen continue to catch a mixed bag of spot, croaker, sea mullet and small flounder.

Catch of the week for this Citation Sheepshead goes to Alvin J. McGlohn, Jr. of Gloucester. The fish weighed 10 lbs, 0 oz, and was 22.25″ long. It was caught July 18 on a minnow off Back River Reef at Fox Hill.

Eddie Berry of Williamsburg landed this 44 lbs., 8 oz cobia at Buoy 42 on Friday, July 16. The fish hit an eel.
