Virginia in Sport Fishing
The July/August issue of Sport Fishing magazine has two articles featuring Virginia and some of our local captains and anglers.
The first is Chesapeake Bay Redfish by Chris Woodward, starting on page 50. It is part of their “The Night Bite” special. In it, she quotes me and Capt. Craig Paige. There are 3 photos in the article. I took 2 of them: one of Chris Boyce releasing a red, the other is just of a crab on a hook. Ric Burnley took the other of Capt. Blake Hayden holding a big red.
The second article is “Sleepy Little Slam Town. Virginia Beach, the East’s Hottest Billfish Battleground” by Mike Mazur, starting on page 56. In it, he says that “Things have been so good in Virginia Beach lately that you might call it the new Venezuela.” There are several local photo credits. Ric Burnley has one photo. Harry Hindmarsh has two. One of his photos shows Rudee’s. For this billfish article, they used one photo of mine… of a tuna. It is in a sidebar about the crazy bluefin bite we had this past winter. Michael Hurst is holding up his tuna in the photo. Dr. John Graves is quoted in the article. The local captains and boats featured are: Capt. Steve Richardson-Backlash, Capt. Justin Wilson-Just Right, Capt. David Wright-High Hopes, and Capt. Mike Standing-Waterman. The Virginia Beach Fishing Center is also featured.
