Sunday Fishing

We ran out of Rudee yesterday looking for wahoo. We ran south and fished a bit north of the Point. We caught a couple of dolphin, pulled off a tuna and had a few mystery bites. It was slow. A lot of bait on the surface. Boats south of the Point were catching blackfin. A few billfish were caught out over 1000 fathoms. The occasional yellowfin would pop up anywhere. We saw a couple free-jump in about 50 fathoms. No real hot bite to go to anywhere. We did a little bottom fishing and caught some sea bass and blueline tilefish and then ran north and trolled just offshore of the B Tower. There we got bites of false albacore. We kept a couple for bait and released the rest. Three qualified for release citations. We had live spot and croaker in the livewell. We dropped them around the Tower and caught 25 or so amberjack and then ran out of bait. They were all fat. Two were long enough for release citations. No wahoo but plenty of pullage on a pretty day in the ocean.
