Hunter Southall went cobia fishing for a couple of hours today. He caught and released a 51-inch cobia and pulled off another. He came and picked me up at my dock when I got home from work. We ran over to Poquoson Flats and caught puppy drum until it got dark.
Capt. Jorj Head went fun fishing today. They were going after flounder but they kept seeing cobia so they never got around to the flounder. They caught 14 cobia and pulled off a number of others. The Gentleman’s Club Cobia Cup was this past weekend. Jorj won it with a 61-pound fish. Including calcuttas, they won a bit over $10,000. Jorj also won the Hampton Creek Cobia Tournament earlier in the summer. The Chesapeake Bay Cobia Classic is this coming weekend. I think Capt. Jorj Head has a good shot at the sweep.
