I ran out this morning to try for some topwater action before the sunrise. I got 5 bites. The first two were small bluefish. The next was different. I “walked-the-dog” all the way back to the boat and was about to lift the lure out of the water when there was an explosion at boatside. That woke me the rest of the way up. I managed to land a very angry trout. One hook had been torn from the lure. The other hook was barely holding on to the fish. A quick measurement showed 30 inches. A more careful measurement came in at 29.75 inches. The next bite turned out to be a 25-inch trout. Shortly after, I was hooked up to another big trout. That one pulled the hook.\u00a0 No more bites after that. It was a very good start to the day.<\/p>\n
